Absence during term time requests
The Department for Education has issued new regulations regarding students taking term time holiday or absence from school for any other reason. From 1 September 2013, Headteachers are not permitted to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Requests will only be considered if attendance is above 96% and there are no exams during the period of requested absence.
At West Exe School, we have always promoted the importance of excellent attendance, and work hard to support students and parents in ensuring high attendance. We know that excellent attendance will help to boost achievement and allow students to reach their full potential, and would encourage all parents/carers to avoid requesting absence during term time.
