Extreme Weather Letter

Dear parent/carer,

You will be aware that there they are currently forecasting extreme weather for tomorrow and the MET Office has issued an amber weather warning for the area.

With this in mind, and in order to minimise disruption as much as possible, we have decided to postpone  Year 8 Options Evening. It will now take place on Monday, 5 March from 5.30-6.30pm. There will also be no P6 sessions or after school clubs taking place and students and staff will be expected to leave shortly after 3.05pm. World Book Day celebrations will be moved to next Wednesday, 7 March, so students should wear full school uniform tomorrow. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The School currently intends to be open tomorrow, as the School is a safe and well-maintained site. In the unlikely event that we are advised to close the School, a decision will be made by 7.30am and parents will be notified by text message. Announcements will also be on local radio, the school website and Facebook page.

If your child normally leaves before 7.30am to arrive at School and the weather conditions are extreme, please do delay their departure and inform the School of their late arrival if the School is open. If your child is unable to make their way safely to School, please inform us by using the usual absence procedures.

Should weather conditions deteriorate during the day tomorrow,to the extent that we are concerned for the safety of students or staff, on site or making their way home safely, we will keep parents informed by text on our School website and via our Facebook page.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Kind regards,

West Exe School
