West Exe School was inspected by Ofsted on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January 2014 under our previous name of West Exe Technology College.
We would like to thank all students, staff, governors, and parents/carers for their support during the inspection. Our students really displayed their best work and behaviour, and we are very proud of the way they represented West Exe School.
West Exe School was judged to be a good school in all categories. This is the outcome we had hoped for as it matches our self-evaluation of the school’s progress. It is a reflection of a great deal of hard work by all concerned.
Ofsted were very complimentary about our students who they said showed real character; they were delighted with the way students smiled at them in the corridors, greeted them once they had been introduced to the inspectors in a previous lesson and showed courtesy to them, for example by holding doors open for them. This matches our own pride in our students and was refreshing to hear from Ofsted inspectors!
The report captures our many strengths well and pays tribute to the hard work of the staff team, the good work of our Governors and the support we receive from the vast majority of parents and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support.
We also have some very clear areas for improvement (all of which we had identified and are already working hard on!) from the Ofsted team and this gives us the mandate to continue addressing these areas in our journey to become an outstanding school in the future.
