Our Trust of Schools

Parent engagement and Groups

West Exe endeavours to communicate positively with our parents and carers. It is really important to us that there is an effective partnership between School and home, ensuring that we all have the best interests for our young people.

Throughout the academic year, the following opportunities are in place for parents to engage with the School:

- At least one parents’ evening per year group, such as subject evenings, with additional specific themed evenings including Year 7 Meet the Tutor and Year 8 Curriculum Choices evening

- Termly Parent Coffee morning meetings, with focussed agenda items to allow parents to be hear about the school, have a voice and be a part of our School development. Please see the school calendar for dates and to seek an invitation.

As a School, we use letters and electronic communication via text messages, email and the MCAS(My Child At School) app to give information to our parents and carers at regular intervals.

We welcome our parents and carers to communicate in a reasonable and respectful way with queries or question. We would recommend that parents and carers contact the School by email in the first instance; for pastoral or curriculum queries contact is via the Tutor.

Staff at West Exe have full timetables, including teaching commitments, meetings and enrichment activities, which means that it is unlikely that they will be immediately available.  We will do our best to respond to you within two full working school days.

Meetings

If you have any issues you would like to discuss regarding your child’s time at West Exe please do contact their tutor in the first instance. They are best placed to deal with individual concerns and worries.

Please do not come to the school reception without a prior arranged appointment as the staff member who is best to help you is unlikely to be available as they will be teaching or with our students. Please book ahead.
